This steel trailer was designed for the Dragonfly 800, and was a factory option.
The green pads sit about 3 feet above the trailer, and cradle the two sides of the hull. This keeps the hull centered on the trailer at all times.
The trailer is designed so that the rear tire goes into the water until the rim hits the water (ie, the axle is not submerged). The boat is winched on the trailer, with amas in the expanded position, from that point.
This was an interesting image, so I took a picture. With the amas extended, on the trailer behind the van, it looks like my Ford is about to "take off".
Bat's Wings hitched to my Aerostar van for a trip to the lake. It's a 4.0 liter V6, with the towing package, rated to tow 4800 lbs. I figure the rig and trailer is 3000 - 3500 lbs. The van has All-wheel drive, which may have helped pull out of a slick launch ramp, but is not really necessary for trailering. According to experts, it helps the RWD Aerostar's handling in wet and slick conditions.
