Bat's Wings Cockpit

Picture of cockpit, from aft (I'm standing on swim platform).

The compass is mounted to port, knot meter to starboard (showing max speed 9.71 kts, from last trip - it saves avg spd, max speed, and trip log (distance).  Knot meter includes temperature, log, and countdown timer for racing.  Depth meter shows 6.9 ' depth.  The sending unit is located about 7-8" below water line.

Knot and depth are B&G network system.

Mounted in the companion way are the VHF radio (on left) and Garmin GPS (on right).  They're attached to a teak frame that fits into the slot for the companionway.  I hook up power and antennas, then slide this frame into slot when we go out for sail.

I keep these on while sailing (the GPS is connected to 12v system).  This allows you to communicate on VHF without going below (especially handy if you like to single-hand).   It also lets you check your bearing and distance to your next waypoint at any time.

These instruments sit beneath a small teak "shelf", which comes in handy while my wife is making sandwiches below - she can pass them up to me on the shelf!

At the dock, I can remove this teak mounting bracket to make entry to boat easier.

The aluminum bar at the bottom of the picture is the traveller.
